Menorca holds a minute’s silence for victims of Wednesday’s train crash in Toledo, Spain, on Thursday, 29 October. The island council and local authorities take part. In Es Migjorn, Menorca, people gather at the town council’s call to remember those who died.

Adolfo Vilafranca, president of the Menorca Island Council, offers condolences to the victims’ families and wishes those injured a swift recovery. Es Migjorn’s acting mayor, Antoni Borràs, reads a short statement expressing the town’s grief and support for everyone affected.

Es Migjorn and other Menorcan councils join three days of official mourning declared across Spain. They suspend events planned for Thursday, Friday and Saturday.
