Mallorca tourist places: Prohens accused of broken promise

Mallorca’s promised cut in tourist places sparks a row: Socialist MP Llorenç Pou accuses regional president Marga Prohens of breaking her word in the Balearic Parliament on Tuesday, 29 September. Tourism, Culture and Sports Minister Jaume Bauzá hits back, saying Pedro Sánchez’s party has “some nerve” making that accusation.

Pou says the government is pursuing expansion while people are fed up. He points to a photo of Prohens with Llorenç Galmés announcing a reduction in tourist places on Mallorca, calling it “the height of cynicism”. Two years later, he says, nothing is known about the cut.

Bauzá counters that the Socialists failed to keep promises on health, housing, tourism and culture. He also accuses them of misleading people over immigration and airport policy. The exchange gives no indication of when or how Mallorca’s tourist places might be reduced.
