Balearic Islands tourists spend €243 a day as trips shrink
In Spain’s Balearic Islands, including Mallorca, international tourists spend an average of €243 a day in August 2026 — 10% more than a year earlier — while their trips get shorter. The islands receive 2.59 million international visitors that month, up 2.56% on August 2025. Figures published on Friday 2 October by Spain’s National Statistics Institute show that the Balearics are the main destination for 21.2% of international tourists visiting Spain in August.
Across the first eight months of the year, 11.7 million international tourists visit the islands, 2% more than in the same period of 2025.
August visitors spend €4,065 million in total, up 4.17% on a year earlier. That accounts for 22.8% of international tourist spending in Spain. Spending per visitor averages €1,566, a rise of 1.57%, but the average trip lasts 6.44 days — 7.71% shorter than a year earlier.
