In Palma on Mallorca, the Balearic government is opening the door to using tourist tax money for housing, Tourism, Culture and Sports Minister Jaume Bauzá tells parliament on Tuesday, 27 October. He backs Balearic president Marga Prohens’s announcement that money from the Sustainable Tourism Tax (ITS) could go towards housing policies.
Bauzá says the government’s initial plan put water management and the environment first because those areas had lacked funding for many years. He says their longstanding needs have now been met, making housing another possible use for the tax.
