Mallorca tourist tax: €113.8m for 33 projects
Mallorca is earmarking €113.8 million from its tourist tax for 33 projects in 2026 and 2027, from water networks to historic sites. The Council of Mallorca announced the plans on Thursday, 29 October 2026. Seven projects are led by the island council and 26 by local councils.
The money comes from the Sustainable Tourism Tax, known as ITS. The plans put tourism revenue towards public services, heritage and the environment.
Historic sites and routes
The island council plans to spend €1.4 million on the Fàbrica Nova in Sóller, Mallorca. More than €1.5 million is earmarked to recover Son Fadrinet, an early Christian site in Campos, Mallorca. Another €1.5 million is planned for work on the church of Nuestra Señora de la Soledad.
More than €1.3 million will go to Georutas, a project to digitise heritage routes through the Serra de Tramuntana and give visitors new ways to discover the area.
Water pipes, meters and streets
In Alaró, Mallorca, the local council plans to renew water networks and hydraulic services in Petit and Alexandre streets. Son Servera, Mallorca, is due to get remotely read water meters across the municipality. Water and sewage networks are also set for renewal in ses Fotges, at Playa de Muro, Mallorca.
Street and public-service improvements are planned for Sant Llorenç des Cardassar, Mallorca, and Colònia de Sant Jordi in Ses Salines, Mallorca. Beyond the 33 island and local projects, the council says 17 regional government schemes could also benefit Mallorca, including work on water management and biodiversity.
