Mallorca tourist thefts: three arrested in Valldemossa
Valldemossa, Mallorca: police arrest three people suspected of stealing tourists’ belongings and using their bank cards to withdraw cash. The Civil Guard announced the arrests on Monday, 26 October. Officers had noticed a rise in thefts from tourists in the town in early October.
The suspects allegedly took belongings when tourists were distracted. They travelled to tourist areas across the Serra de Tramuntana, then used stolen cards at cash machines to withdraw money, the Civil Guard says.
The three are accused of four thefts and four cases of bank fraud. Officers recovered about €5,000. The suspects, who have records for similar offences, have been handed over to the courts. The Civil Guard says further arrests are possible.
