Train crash kills at least 69: Balearic gala delayed
Palma, Mallorca: the Balearic Bar Association postpones Thursday’s awards gala after a train crash in Urda, Toledo, kills at least 69 people. The association says the decision follows three days of mourning declared over the crash. The gala is now set for 13 November at 18.00.
María Isabel Perelló, president of the Supreme Court and the General Council of the Judiciary, is due to receive the Degà Miquel Frontera award for legal ethics. The association has offered its condolences to the victims and their loved ones.
The rescheduled gala will also honour members who have belonged to the association for 47 years with a gold badge. Recently admitted lawyers will take their oath and receive their robes.
