Balearic training vouchers: 1,077 issued across islands

The Balearic Employment Service (SOIB) said in Palma, Mallorca, on 21 August that it had issued 1,077 training vouchers under its 2025-2027 programme. The vouchers have a combined value of €306,700 and are intended to match workers’ skills with demand in the Balearic labour market.

Since the scheme began in September 2025, 61 courses have been delivered to 660 participants. The programme is open to both unemployed and employed people and funds classroom-based training for occupations where specific skills are sought.

Courses delivered on three islands

Mallorca hosted 41 of the courses, while Eivissa and Menorca each held 10. The initial programme has concentrated on maintenance and construction-related work.

Training includes plumbing, electrical work and air-conditioning systems. Courses are free for recipients, with SOIB meeting the costs; the 2025-2027 call has a €1 million budget and covers courses priced at up to about €1,000.

Expanded programme launched

Training providers already hold 133 vouchers for courses expected to begin shortly. A further 72 approved vouchers are awaiting submission by recipients to the relevant centres.

The Balearic Government launched its 2026-2028 training voucher call this summer with a €1 million budget and support of up to about €1,200 per course. It increases the range of specialisms by 71%, from 208 to 356, retaining construction support roles while adding social and healthcare services, transport and self-employment.
