Mallorca budgets €5.4 million for Tramuntana in 2027
Mallorca’s island council budgets nearly 5.4 million euros for the Serra de Tramuntana in 2027: almost 3.5 million euros will go to grants for those who maintain its cultural landscape. The council announced the approved budget on 20 October 2026. The total is close to this year’s figure, but the plan puts far more money into activities for children and young people.
Grants to protect the landscape
The grants budget is 120% higher than in 2023, when it stood at less than 1.6 million euros. Individuals are allocated 1.5 million euros, farms 650,000 euros and local councils 550,000 euros. Cooperatives and fishing associations are allocated 675,000 euros, while land stewardship organisations receive 100,000 euros.
The funding is intended to help restore local heritage, preserve traditional features and support farming and maritime activities. The council says this work helps protect the cultural landscape recognised as a Unesco World Heritage site.
More money for activities and school trips
The budget for cultural and sporting activities rises to 795,000 euros, up from 120,000 euros the previous year. The council plans to expand activities linked to the Cala Murta camps and make it easier for schools to take pupils to the Serra de Tramuntana. It also plans more involvement in fairs and programmes that introduce people to the area.
