Mallorca's Tramuntana: €1.67 million for farms and fishing
Mallorca’s Serra de Tramuntana: farms and fishing groups can apply for a share of €1.67 million from Wednesday, 7 October. The Council of Mallorca says the grants aim to keep agricultural and maritime work going in the region.
What the grants cover
The money is open to managers, businesses and organisations holding the “Serra de Tramuntana Patrimonio Mundial” label. Agricultural, livestock and forestry co-operatives can also apply, along with fishing associations, bodies overseeing protected designations of origin and groups of agroecological producers.
Grants can cover animal disease and plant pest control, fertiliser, animal feed, seeds and fuel. A portion of the fund is set aside to ease higher production costs linked to the conflict in the Middle East. Funding is also available for development, innovation, promotion and training, as well as machinery and the restoration of local heritage features.
Why the order matters
Applications open on 7 October, the day after the call is published in the Official Gazette of the Balearic Islands. The deadline runs for 15 working days.
The Serra de Tramuntana Consortium will award grants in the order applications reach its register. Each application must meet the scheme’s requirements, and awards will stop when the money runs out.
