The Consell de Mallorca is running the eighth edition with the Balearic Association of Nature Photography. It wants images that bring out the landscape, heritage and cultural value of the Serra de Tramuntana.

Adults can enter whether they are professionals or amateurs, as long as they took the photographs themselves. Each image must centre on a recognisable feature of the Serra. Entrants may send three pictures in each category, up to six altogether, and every image needs a caption or description.

Photographs must not contain anything that identifies their author, so the judging can remain anonymous.

Four ways to show the Serra

The four categories range from businesses and products carrying the ‘Distintivo’ badge to heritage features. The latter includes dry-stone structures, marges, paved paths, towers and estates.

A third category focuses on traditional water management, including irrigation channels, water basins, cisterns and canals. The final category, ‘Experiences’, is for cultural and sporting events.

Toni Fuster, the island’s councillor for the presidency and vice-president of the Serra de Tramuntana Consortium, said every photograph helps build a shared story of the Serra and make its heritage visible.
