Two blows alleged: Palma Airport driver held by police

A private transfer driver needed medical treatment after he reported being struck twice on the head by a colleague at Palma Airport on 12 September.

National Police arrested the other driver on suspicion of assault, threats and coercion. The dispute began in the arrivals area as the complainant loaded a large group’s luggage into his van, according to the Balearic Islands Police Headquarters.

The complainant said the other driver hit him twice, leaving him with pain in his left ear. He also said the man insulted and threatened him while concealing a small key in his right hand.

Fearing the object might be a knife, the driver asked what he was holding. He said the threats continued and that, when his vehicle keys fell to the ground, the colleague picked them up and left without returning them.

The driver later felt unwell and dizzy and received medical care. He also reported damage to a tooth and to a device he was wearing.

He said he did not know what triggered the alleged attack, but suspected it may have been linked to the large tourist group he was due to transport. He added that the suspect had argued with him and other colleagues before.
