TUI summer bookings drop 5% as profit target cut

TUI's summer booking revenue is 5% below last year's level after the travel group cut back its own travel capacity. On 23 September, the company narrowed its 2026 target for underlying operating profit to €1,200–1,300 million. The war in Iran and continued late bookings are weighing on the business, while Spain remains one of TUI's most sought-after destinations.

The new profit range is below the €1,413 million TUI reported for 2025. It also narrows the earlier forecast of €1,100–1,400 million. TUI has kept its annual revenue forecast suspended since withdrawing it in April following the start of the conflict in Iran.

Cruise disruption hits holiday plans

The conflict directly hit TUI's cruise division when two TUI Cruises ships were blocked in the region. Numerous customers then postponed their holidays.

TUI responded by cutting its own risk capacity by 5%. Summer booking revenue had been 6% down by August, before the gap narrowed to 5% over the full period.

Bookings taken in the past four weeks rose 2%. But revenue remains 7% lower in the UK and 2% lower in Germany than a year earlier. Spain and Greece are still the group's most popular destinations.

Winter bookings remain behind

Revenue already booked for winter 2026/2027 is 7% below the previous year, with the UK down 9% and Germany down 4%. In the latest four weeks, however, the shortfall eased to 1% as average selling prices held steady.

TUI's winter programme focuses on the Canary Islands, mainland Spain, Egypt and Cape Verde, alongside Thailand, Mexico and the Dominican Republic.

Hotel and resort prices rose 4% in the fourth quarter, while available bed nights increased 1% despite the hurricane in Jamaica. TUI Cruises now has 19 ships after adding Mein Schiff Flow, and available cruise days rose 12% in the fourth quarter.
