Two small boats bring 31 migrants to the island of Formentera on Wednesday. Rescuers reach 17 people at sea at 08.15, 12 miles south of the island. At 12.50, they rescue another 14 on land at Cap de Barbaria.

The Spanish Government Delegation says the 14 people rescued on land are of Maghrebi origin, from North Africa. Their rescue brings Wednesday’s reported total to 31. The account gives the time of both rescues, but does not say when the second boat reached the island.
