Mallorca pensions: UGT wants constitutional protection

Mallorca and the rest of the Balearic Islands: UGT wants pensions protected in the constitution. Its Union of Retirees and Pensioners makes the call on Thursday, 1 October, International Day of Older Persons. At a union event that day, Mercedes Lara Carrasco and Luis López Martínez receive the Menciones 1 de Octubre awards for their trade union work.
UGT also wants a comprehensive law on older people’s rights that would guarantee them a dignified, autonomous and independent life. It calls for decent pensions and gradual increases in minimum contributions.
Mercè Perera, chair of the Pacte de Toledo Commission, speaks at the event about the past, present and future of pensions.
