Spain's university decree struck down over rushed approval

Madrid: Spain's Supreme Court strikes down a government decree on university centres because the rush to approve it was not properly justified. The ruling, reported on 8 October 2026, concerns Royal Decree 905/2025, dated 7 October 2025. It covered the creation, recognition and authorisation of university centres.
The court's administrative chamber says the government did not adequately explain its decision to fast-track the decree. That process skipped a prior consultation, which the court says lacked the legal basis required.
