Menorca university: €3.5m expansion can go to tender
The University of the Balearic Islands (UIB) in Alaior, Menorca, can put a €3.5 million refurbishment contract out to tender after the Balearic Government began transferring the funds on Tuesday.
Education and Universities Minister Antoni Vera announced the move at the opening of the UIB academic year in Menorca and a graduation ceremony for students who completed their studies last year. He said the basic and detailed building plans had been completed.
A property next to the university site, bought four years ago, will be renovated and adapted for student use. Vera said the funding would strengthen the UIB’s presence and capacity in Menorca, with more modern and practical facilities designed around the university community’s current needs.
