Ibiza sets €700,000 for university travel grants
Students whose family home is on Ibiza can apply for help with trips to a university elsewhere in the European Union. On Friday, 4 September, the Balearic Government approved an agreement with the Consell d'Eivissa to run the grants for the 2025-2026 course. Ibiza’s island council is putting €700,000 into the scheme.
The Balearic Government’s Ministry of Education and Universities will add €356,088 from the autonomous community budget. That budget also includes separate funding for grant calls on Menorca and Formentera.
Applicants must live on Ibiza and be enrolled for at least 42 credits on an official bachelor’s or master’s degree at an EU university. Those in their second year or beyond must have passed at least 65 per cent of the credits they enrolled for.
A student cannot claim the aid if the same course is available at the Ibiza campus of the University of the Balearic Islands, unless they failed to secure a place there. The agreement is intended to ease the extra cost faced by students who have to leave the island for higher education.
