Manacor bars face €9,000 bill over unregistered staff

Several hospitality venues in Manacor, Mallorca, face a combined €9,000 in penalties after three people were found working without Social Security registration.

The National Police's Foreigners Operational Group inspected three businesses in the town on 17 September. The Labour and Social Security Inspectorate then opened sanction proceedings, with a minimum penalty of €3,000 for each unregistered worker.

Police also found a large amount of cash at one venue. At another, officers filed a report over the possession of narcotic substances.

The inspections were carried out with the Labour and Social Security Inspectorate as part of checks on workers' employment and administrative status, aimed at preventing possible labour exploitation.
