Mallorca’s PP and Vox demand Urda train crash answers
Mallorca’s PP and Vox are demanding answers from Spain’s government over the train crash in Urda, in the province of Toledo. They made the call at parliamentary press conferences in Palma, Mallorca, on Monday, 2 November, while the PSIB declined to say whether Transport Minister Óscar Puente should resign. The crash happened the previous Wednesday.
All three parties offered condolences to the victims’ families and friends. Vox spokeswoman Manuela Cañadas said the families needed to know what had happened. PP spokeswoman Marga Durán accused the government of skimping on investment while posting too many tweets. She claimed every safety system had failed and called for a change of government.
PSIB spokesman Iago Negueruela said his party would listen when Puente appears before parliament’s Permanent Deputation on Tuesday to give an explanation. The PP has also requested that Tuesday’s plenary sitting begin with a minute’s silence for the victims.
