US midterms: PSIB and Més want Spain to follow

Palma, Mallorca: Two Balearic parties welcome the US midterm election results and hope they point the way for Spain. On Wednesday 4 November 2026, Més per Menorca and the PSIB say Democrats have won in both chambers after Tuesday’s vote.

Speaking after a meeting of party group spokespeople, Josep Castells of Més per Menorca and Iago Negueruela of the PSIB also point to Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva’s victory in Brazil’s presidential election.

Castells accuses President Donald Trump of making promises to Americans and doing the opposite. He says Trump’s populist politics lead nowhere. Negueruela says democracy has rejected Trump’s way of doing politics. In his view, the US has rejected hatred, war, oligarchs and insults.
