Palma cuts back growth along 1.5m metres of streets
Palma, Mallorca, has cut back vegetation along more than 1.5 million linear metres of streets and road spaces between January and July. The city-owned company Emaya also worked on more than 208,000 square metres of vacant plots, car parks, pedestrian passages and other public areas. Its July update records 13 workers carrying out the work.
Teams tackle growth in neighbourhoods and industrial areas
Emaya cleared vegetation on almost 49,000 square metres of public plots, pedestrian passages, car parks and dog-exercise areas. It also dealt with growth on more than 218,000 linear metres of streets, pavements, kerbs and paths in neighbourhoods and industrial estates.
The work included vegetation, stubble and branches from trees and shrubs. The largest share of the July work was in Les Meravelles and Can Pastilla, as well as on paths near Son Espanyol and Son Ferriol.
Other recent locations included Estadi Balear, Amanecer, Can Pere Antoni, Son Puig, S'Hostalot, Santa Catalina and Son Flor.
August work spreads across Palma
Emaya continued the programme in August, with work planned for Son Dameto, Foners, Nou Llevant, Es Molinar, Coll d'en Rabassa, S'Arenal, Es Pil·larí, S'Aranjassa, Casa Blanca, La Soledat, Son Fortesa, Son Canals and the Son Castelló industrial estate.
The city has also treated areas needing different attention, including municipal plots, shared spaces and car parks. These included dog-exercise areas and sites in Camp Redó, Son Gotleu and Es Cap Pinar.
