Formentera's first senator: Vicent Tur enters race

Formentera, Spain, chooses its first senator on 29 November: businessman Vicent Tur Costa is running for the new seat. Sa Unió, an alliance of the People's Party (PP) and Compromís amb Formentera, has chosen him as its candidate in the general election. The alliance announced its choice on 24 October.

Party leaders Javier Serra and Hugo Martínez point to Tur's experience, knowledge of the island, work ethic and commitment to Formentera. Sa Unió wants the seat to help press Formentera's demands with the Spanish state and ensure the island's particular circumstances are taken into account. If elected, Tur will join the Mixed Group in the Senate.
