Mallorca MP Vicenç Vidal is stepping aside from the top of the Ara Més–Front Ampli list for the 29 November election to Spain’s Congress, leaving Carme Gomila in line to lead it. Gomila coordinates Ara Més and heads Esquerra Republicana in the Balearic Islands. Vidal told the leadership of MÉS per Mallorca of his decision hours before a party executive meeting, seeking to avoid an internal dispute.

Vidal has broad support among MÉS per Mallorca members, but Més per Menorca and Ara Eivissa do not back another election with him at the head of the list. In 2023, he became the first MP from the eco-sovereigntist parties to enter Congress. Party sources told Europa Press they saw him as a candidate who could bring the sides together. They expect agreements to be harder to reach with Gomila.

Ara Més, Sumar and Esquerra Unida in the Balearic Islands have agreed to run together as Ara Més–Front Ampli. Podemos did not join them. The partners plan to settle the rest of the list in the coming days, before Monday’s deadline to submit it to the electoral board. Second place will go to either Sumar or Esquerra Unida, third to Ara Més and fourth to a Front Ampli partner. Ara Més is set to take the remaining places.
