Mallorca: 366 pharmacies to get violence helpline bags
On Mallorca in the Balearic Islands, 366 pharmacies are set to receive bags bearing the violence helpline number 900 17 89 89 in the coming days. The free, confidential service answers calls around the clock and offers in-person support to people affected by gender-based violence. The Balearic Ministry of Families, Social Welfare and Care for Dependants announced the plan on 2 November.
Across the Balearic Islands, 190,000 bags will go to 459 pharmacies. Alongside those on Mallorca, 41 pharmacies on Menorca, 48 on Ibiza and four on Formentera will receive them. The Balearic College of Pharmacists and two pharmaceutical cooperatives are helping the Balearic Women’s Institute distribute the bags.
The helpline is available every day of the year. It also gives information and advice to professionals who support people affected by violence.
In the first nine months of 2026, the service answered 4,167 calls, up 27 per cent on the same period last year. Of those calls, 3,828 concerned violence against women, 171 sexual violence and 168 other forms of gender-based violence.
