Mallorca’s VIVA hotels cut CO2 per stay by 18.3%
Mallorca’s Hotels VIVA puts its 2025 carbon footprint at 4.82 kilograms of CO2 equivalent per stay, down 18.3% from 5.90 kilograms in 2023. The figures come from the hotel chain’s corporate social responsibility report.
More solar power, less energy per stay
The chain generated 515,600 kWh of solar electricity for its own use in 2025, up 35% on the previous year. Energy use per stay fell 7.7% to 19.33 kWh. Hotels VIVA also uses heat recovery, heating that draws on air, biomass and more efficient equipment to reduce its reliance on fossil fuels.
Water use falls despite higher occupancy
The hotels used 237,900 m³ of water in 2025, 5.2% less than the year before, even as average occupancy reached 84.5% — up 2.8 percentage points. Water use per stay fell 3.4%. The chain cites daily checks, leak detection and water-saving taps and irrigation among its measures.
Hotels VIVA also passed on 13 tonnes of replaced equipment for social reuse through Fundació Deixalles. It continued to buy food and drink from around 60 local suppliers on Mallorca.
