Ibiza: Vox pressed over candidate held in drug money probe

Ibiza: Socialists are pressing Vox for answers after a man detained in an operation against the laundering of drug-trafficking proceeds was found to have stood tenth on its 2019 election list in Sant Josep de sa Talaia, Ibiza. The Ibiza Socialist Federation says he is married to a former People’s Party councillor in Eivissa.

Vox has said the man’s place on the list came through Actúa Baleares, according to the Socialist Party of the Balearic Islands. The Socialists say that explanation is not enough. They want to know what ties he has had to Vox and to the People’s Party on Ibiza beyond his marriage.

The Socialists also point to Araceli Colomar, who was on the same list and is now Vox’s spokeswoman on Sant Josep council. They link her to property scandals and say complaints alleging fraud have been made against her.

For the Socialists, the detained man’s place on the 2019 list shows political activity recent enough to warrant answers, given the seriousness of the reports about him.
