Mallorca’s Vox spokeswoman does not know her party’s candidate for Spain’s 29 November election: Manuela Cañadas says she cannot judge the choice of Maribel Cerezo. Speaking in Palma, Mallorca, on Friday 23 October, Cañadas says she hopes to meet Cerezo on Saturday, when Vox leader Santiago Abascal visits the city.

Vox named Cerezo on Wednesday to lead its Balearic Islands list for the Congress of Deputies. The announcement followed Balearic MP Jorge Campos’s decision to return to regional politics. Former MP Antonio Salvá is second on the list, followed by Vox Baleares vice-president Melina Merki.

Another election question remains open. Cañadas says she has no information about a possible deal with the conservative People’s Party that would see Vox sit out Senate contests in some constituencies. She does not rule it out, but says any negotiations would be handled by party leaders in Madrid.
