Mallorca Vox politician María José Verdú dies after illness
Mallorca loses a Vox parliamentarian: María José Verdú dies on Friday afternoon after a long illness. Born in Palma, Mallorca, in 1968, she had sat in the Balearic Parliament since 2023. Sources in Vox’s parliamentary group confirmed her death to Europa Press.
Verdú had been the group’s deputy spokesperson. She chaired the health committee and an inquiry into the case known as the Koldo case. Since 2025, she had handled management and finances on Vox’s provincial executive committee in the Balearic Islands. She had also served as a councillor in Bunyola, Mallorca.
Vox offered condolences to her family, friends and colleagues. At a party rally in Maó, Menorca, the party’s Balearic leader, Gabriel Le Senne, called her “an exceptional colleague and a friend”. He said Verdú was on Vox’s list for the Congress election referred to as “29N”.
