Mallorca and the rest of the Balearic Islands could deliver the right one more Senate seat on 29 November: Vox will not run its own list under a deal with the People’s Party (PP). The parties reached the agreement on Monday, 26 October. The PP will give an independent candidate proposed by Vox second or third place on its Balearic list.

Vox is also dropping its own list in Las Palmas, Santa Cruz de Tenerife, Cádiz, Valencia and Castellón. Across those six constituencies, the parties’ calculations suggest the deal could bring them 11 to 12 additional seats, including one in the Balearic Islands.

The pact aims to make better use of votes on the right and counter an alliance of the Spanish Socialist Workers’ Party (PSOE), Frente Amplio and regional left-wing parties. PP and Vox expect to win between 125 and 140 of the 209 Senate seats being contested on 29 November. That is their forecast, not a result.
