Mallorca: Vox puts ‘remigration’ at heart of 2027 vote
Palma, Mallorca: Vox puts migration and its call for ‘remigration’ at the centre of its plans for the 2027 Balearic elections, but has yet to name a candidate. At a party meeting on Thursday, Balearic Vox leader Gabriel Le Senne set out three priorities: ‘remigration’, what the party calls ‘national priority’, and deregulation.
Housing, services and taxes
Le Senne said the arrival of millions of immigrants in Spain was putting pressure on public services and housing. He argued that more people should not be allowed to arrive, particularly if they enter illegally.
On deregulation, he said Vox wanted to make life simpler, cut taxes and create prosperity. The party would put its three priorities on the table after the election, depending on the result, he said.
Candidate and possible pact still unclear
Vox’s deputy secretary for territorial organisation and institutional relations, María Ruíz, said no names had been chosen for its election lists. For now, she said, the party’s focus was on unity nationally and in its regional branches. She called the Balearic Islands an important contest in the coming election.
Asked about a possible agreement with the People’s Party, Ruíz said Vox wanted to govern ‘everywhere’. Le Senne did not say whether he hoped to remain at the head of the Balearic Parliament if the election result allowed such a deal. He said he would serve wherever his party put him.
