On Mallorca, the Balearic People’s Party (PP) unveils its candidates in Palma on Monday, 26 October, for Spain’s 29 November election — and defends a Senate deal with Vox. Its lists cover both the Congress of Deputies and the Senate. José Vicente Marí Bosó, the party’s lead candidate for Congress in the Balearics, calls the candidates “the best of the best” as they gather for a group photo.

A Vox deal, not a joint ticket

Marí Bosó says the PP will stand for the Senate under its own name. He describes the arrangement with Vox as cooperation rather than an electoral coalition, saying both parties have made concessions.

He draws a distinction between that deal and the joint Senate bid by the PSIB, MÉS per Mallorca, Sumar and Esquerra Unida. Asked about the Balearic PP’s role in the Vox agreement, he says the party’s national leadership is in constant contact with its Balearic leader, Marga Prohens.

Housing and roads on the campaign agenda

Marí Bosó puts housing, infrastructure, stronger state public services, fair funding for the islands and action on irregular migration among the party’s priorities. He says the PP proposes creating a million homes in the coming years. He also calls for an extension of the Balearics’ special tax regime and road agreements with the island councils.

Among the candidates he names are Antònia Roca, Joan Mesquida and Xisca Porquer. The Senate candidates he highlights are Sebastià Sagreras, Carmen Ferrer and Ramón Sintes.
