Mallorca heat row: Vox councillor praises studying in heat

Palma, Mallorca: a Vox councillor’s claim that studying in the heat is a “culture of effort” draws a rebuke from the Balearic Minister for Education and Universities on Tuesday 29 September. The councillor made the remark at a Palma City Council meeting. Minister Antoni Vera rejected it while answering a question from socialist MP Amanda Fernández in parliament.
Vera said he was surprised to be asked about a councillor from another party. He argued that the Spanish Socialist Workers’ Party did not answer for its jailed politicians. Fernández replied: “Vox talks nonsense and the People’s Party puts it into practice.” Vera also accused the Pacte of failing to act on cooling during earlier heatwaves.
