Manacor opens four waste collection points for outlying homes

Manacor, Mallorca, opened four enclosed, CCTV-monitored waste collection points on Wednesday, 19 August for residents living outside the town centre without a doorstep collection service. The facilities supplement the municipal collection system and cost about €111,400.

Locations and purpose

The new points are at Vía Palma (Hipódromo), Camino de Son Moix–Ronda Felanitx, the Miquel Àngel Nadal Sports Centre and Sa Torre de S'aigua in Cales de Mallorca. Manacor Town Council's special delegate for Environment, Energy and Activities, Mateu Mercé, presented the scheme with environmental technician Antoni Pascual.

Access and accepted waste

Residents outside the town centre can use the sites from 18:00 to 22:00. Organic waste requires a citizen card to unlock the container, while containers for packaging, paper, glass and residual waste can currently be used without a card.

The council said it would later set out the final operating arrangements. Bulky waste and other large items must not be left at the collection points; they can be taken to the Ecoparc de Manacor or collected free of charge by calling 900 107 389.
