Mallorca wastewater plants get €2.29m to stay running
Mallorca’s wastewater treatment plants in Manacor and Cala Murada are set to keep running from 1 January 2027 after the Balearic Government approved €2.29 million in funding on Friday, 11 September 2026.
The money covers the upkeep, maintenance and operation of the two plants for 2027, 2028 and 2029. It will ensure wastewater from both towns continues to be treated.
The Empresa de Servicios del Municipio de Manacor (SAM), which manages the system, will receive the payment to meet its running costs. Technical services set the annual figure at €763,860, adding up to €2.29 million over three years.
The spending will appear in budgets from 2027 to 2030. That is because each year’s December payment is processed in January of the following year.
The Balearic Government’s Ministry for the Sea and Water Cycle says the funding secures the resources needed to maintain the service in Manacor and Cala Murada.
