Marratxí water playground gets €425,000 green light

A water playground is set to replace traditional play equipment in Pont d'Inca Nou, Marratxí, after the council awarded a contract worth more than €425,000 on Friday 25 September. The 240-square-metre site will stand on municipal land and is intended for the hottest months.

Water jets and controlled access

The plans replace standard play structures with features that spray water from the ground and from the equipment itself. They also include areas for people to stay.

The whole site will be fenced. An access-control system will allow free entry during set opening hours, then shut the area at night to protect the facilities and improve safety. Marratxí Council said the design also prioritises accessibility and efficient use of resources.

5,000 litres kept in a closed loop

A 5,000-litre balancing tank will hold treated and chlorinated water before pumps send it to the jets and fountains. Drains will collect the water afterwards, clean it and return it to the system.

The council says this closed-loop system will keep reusing the water and avoid the need for new water consumption.
