Mallorca faces weekend downpours and flood risk
Mallorca in the Balearic Islands faces heavy, persistent rain this weekend, with flooding possible if the downpours build up. Spain’s State Meteorological Agency (Aemet) issued the warning on Wednesday, 14 October 2026, and also forecast a marked drop in temperatures across the islands.
A weather front is due to reach the Cantabrian area on Saturday before spreading towards the Balearic Islands in the second half of the day. Heavy, persistent showers could then begin. Aemet expects more storms and intense rain on Sunday, when temperatures are set to fall most sharply in Eivissa and around Mallorca’s Serra de Tramuntana.
The agency warns that prolonged rain could cause significant build-up, leading to floods and swollen watercourses. Rain and storms are forecast to continue on Monday, but should ease.
