Mallorca: Nine years sought after wife escapes cable attack

In Palma, Mallorca, prosecutors seek nine years in prison for a man accused of trying to strangle his wife with an electrical cable. She broke free and fled after the alleged attack on 17 July 2024. The Second Chamber of the Provincial Court holds a preliminary hearing on Wednesday, 30 September, at 09.30.
According to the charge sheet, the man shook and shoved his wife during an argument. He struck her several times in the face with a wooden tray, then whipped her across the body with the cable before allegedly trying to strangle her with it. The man had previously been convicted of causing bodily harm.
