Ibiza fire risk: camp cleared, lorry of rubbish removed
Responsible for this content: Frank Menze
A lorry full of rubbish was removed from woodland in Port des Torrent, Ibiza, after Sant Josep Local Police cleared an unauthorised camp there on 9 September. Officers found items used to make fires, which the police said posed a serious wildfire risk in the forest setting. Municipal cleaning crews removed the waste after the operation.
The police said reports from members of the public helped officers find the camp. The pile-up of rubbish had also created unhygienic conditions and affected how local people could use the area.
