Mallorca families: 70 measures to ease work and care

Mallorca families are covered by a new 70-measure Balearic plan to make work and family life easier, though some of its measures are still to come. Margalida Darder, the Balearic government’s director general for work-life balance and workplace equality, handed the plan to representatives of CAEB, Pimeb, UGT and CCOO this week. The Balearic Ministry of Labour, Public Service and Social Dialogue announced the handover on 27 September 2026.

The Balearic Governing Council approved the plan in July. It runs until 2031 and sets out three strands, eight broad goals and 16 specific ones. Twenty-two parties share responsibility for the work, while 20 indicators will measure progress. Several government departments are involved.

The 70 measures include provision already made free for children aged 0 to 3 and the ‘Cheque canguro’ scheme. Other actions are planned for the future, but the ministry’s announcement does not say what those will be.
