Balearics workers get €2.6m for public training

Workers in the Balearics are set to receive €2.6 million for training in public centres after Spain’s government approved the funding on 16 September 2026. The courses will focus on sectors considered especially important to the economy and society. The Ministry of Education, Vocational Training and Sports put forward the measure.

The Balearics can also direct the training towards priority sectors identified in their own strategic plans. The money forms part of a €107.4 million distribution to Spain’s autonomous communities for training linked to state programmes.

Thirty per cent of the investment is aimed at people facing social or economic vulnerability, poverty or exclusion. Migrants who took part in the 2026 regularisation process are also among those targeted.

Spain’s government also approved four Ministry-run funding calls worth €126.7 million for worker training. They are aimed at strategic sectors where employers have identified shortages of professionals or difficulties replacing retiring workers.

The calls include €25 million for industrial and sustainable construction, €35 million for strategic trades and occupations, and €20 million for tourism focused on heritage, culture and sustainability. A further €46.7 million is set aside mainly for training people in particularly vulnerable situations.
