Spain splits 107.39 million euros for worker training

Spain is dividing 107.39 million euros among its autonomous communities for worker training in strategic sectors. The Sectoral Conference on Vocational Training for Workers approved the distribution on Monday, 28 September. The money will pay for courses at public training centres and centres run by the regions, with the aim of improving workers’ job prospects.

At least 30% of the fund must go towards training for people facing hardship, at risk of poverty or involved in a recent extraordinary regularisation process. Up to 25% of the training can cover basic skills. Each region’s priority sectors will be guided by national or regional strategic plans.

The Council of Ministers approved the allocation on 15 September. Separately, the ministry has issued four funding calls worth a total of 126.7 million euros. They also target training needs in strategic sectors, including those short of professionals or struggling to bring through a new generation of workers.
