Mallorca pair win World Cup bronze with Spain

Mallorca basketball players Alba Torrens and Helena Pueyo have won World Cup bronze with Spain’s women’s team. Spain beat Germany 81-58 on Sunday to take third place at the 2026 FIBA World Cup. Balearic Islands Government president Marga Prohens congratulated both players after the game.
Writing on X, Prohens said the medal kept the Balearic Islands’ name high. She also singled out Torrens, who has played at four World Cups and won four medals.
Prohens said that record confirms Torrens as one of the leading figures in the history of Spanish basketball.
