Mallorca, Spain, hosts representatives from 14 World Heritage sites in the first quarter of 2027: their first alliance meeting of the year includes working sessions in the Serra de Tramuntana on protecting and managing heritage. The mountain range is itself a World Heritage site, and the sessions will show what is being done to preserve it.

The Alliance of Cultural Landscapes and Related World Heritage Sites has 12 members in Spain, one in Portugal and one in Andorra. They include the Alhambra and Generalife in Granada, Spain, the cultural landscape of Sintra, Portugal, and Menorca Talayótica, Spain. Toni Fuster, Mallorca Island Council’s councillor for the presidency, says the sites differ but share a task: preserving their heritage for future generations. The sessions will give their representatives a chance to compare approaches and solutions.

The alliance also plans to attend the Fitur tourism fair in Madrid, Spain, and ITB in Berlin, Germany. It wants visitors to understand the sites’ value and tourism to respect their conservation. Mallorca Island Council backed its appearance at World Travel Market in London, UK, in 2025. A second European forum for World Heritage site managers is planned for Bordeaux, France.
