WorldSkills: three Balearic students head to Shanghai
Three vocational-training students from the Balearic Islands are preparing to compete at WorldSkills in Shanghai between 22 and 27 this month. Balearic Islands President Marga Prohens met them on Friday in Palma, Mallorca, to hear about the tests ahead and their preparations. The three will take part in landscape gardening and cooking.
Sebastià Seguí and Sergi Ochogavía, from CIFP Joan Taix, will compete in landscape gardening. Àngela Font, from CIFP Juníper Serra, will enter the cooking category.
Prohens said the students showed the talent within vocational training in the Balearic Islands. She praised their teachers and the teams supporting them, and wished the competitors luck in Shanghai.
Emilio Nsue received after retirement
Prohens also received Mallorca footballer Emilio Nsue López at the Consolat de Mar. Nsue recently announced his retirement from professional football.
During his career, he played for RCD Mallorca, CD Castellón, Real Sociedad and Birmingham City FC. Prohens thanked him for two decades as a player and highlighted his work away from the pitch, bringing sport into neighbourhoods and offering young people opportunities and role models.
