Palma cookery student takes fifth, wins WorldSkills medal

Palma, Mallorca: cookery student Àngela Font finishes fifth at WorldSkills Shanghai 2026 and receives an excellence medal, Europa Press reported on 27 September. Font studies at the CIFP Juníper Serra vocational training centre in Palma.

Judges recognised her “high technical and professional level”, the Balearic Department of Education and Universities said. Excellence medals go to high-scoring competitors after the gold, silver and bronze medals are awarded.

Students from around the world competed over four days. Two other Balearic students, Sebastià Seguí and Sergi Ochogavía of CIFP Joan Taix, took part in gardening and landscaping. Their gold medal at SpainSkills in February had earned them places on the Spanish team.

All three are expected to represent Spain again at EuroSkills 2027 in Düsseldorf.
