Balearic trio chase WorldSkills gold in Shanghai
Three Balearic vocational students begin five days of WorldSkills competition in Shanghai on Tuesday, each chasing gold for Spain. Àngela Font of CIFP Juníper Serra competes in cooking, while Sebastià Seguí and Sergi Ochogavía from CIFP Joan Taix enter as a team in gardening and landscaping. The Balearic Islands Ministry of Education and Universities confirmed the three will face competitors from around the world.
WorldSkills brings together leading vocational students and young professionals from dozens of countries and is regarded as the biggest international contest in vocational training.
Gold medals at SpainSkills in February won Font, Seguí and Ochogavía their places in Shanghai. They are also set to compete at EuroSkills Düsseldorf in 2027.
Balearic Islands president Marga Prohens and Education and Universities minister Antoni Vera received the island representatives two weeks ago to recognise their achievement and wish them luck.
