Palma city council: Xisca Mir to replace Contreras
Palma, Mallorca: Xisca Mir is set to take Miquel Àngel Contreras’s seat on the city council after he steps down to begin a new professional chapter. Contreras plans to resign at the council meeting on 26 November, and Mir is expected to take office on 17 December. MÉS per Palma announced the change on Tuesday, 3 November.
Mir currently coordinates MÉS per Palma. She was fifth on its list for the 2023 local elections and is second on its list for 2027. The party told members about the change at a meeting at La Col·lectiva and in a letter signed by Mir, Contreras and its mayoral candidate, David Pujol.
Mir says she wants to defend the right to housing and help make Palma a fairer city. Contreras, who has held roles in both the city government and the opposition, supports her appointment and says he will remain committed to the party.
