In Campos, Mallorca, Mayor Xisca Porquer is not seeking another term: she says she will not stand in the local election on 23 May 2027. The People's Party (PP) politician announced her decision on social media on Saturday. Minutes later, the Balearic PP released its lists for the general election on 29N, placing her fourth among its candidates for Spain's Congress of Deputies.

Porquer has been mayor since 2019, winning two terms with an absolute majority. She called her eight years in office the “most passionate” of her life and said she would remain mayor until the local election.

Her announcement follows a dispute over her appearance at a human chain organised by environmental groups to defend es Trenc. Demonstrators booed her as a manifesto was read. Left-wing parties represented in Campos accused her of provocation; Porquer denied trying to draw attention away from the event.
