Balearic pupils chase €10,000 in business contest

Balearic students aged 14 to 21 can enter a virtual car-company contest for a share of more than €10,000 in prizes. Young Business Talents is taking registrations until 21 October from pupils in their final year of secondary school, bachillerato or vocational training. The competition starts online from classrooms in November before an in-person final in Madrid in March.

The contest is free. Teams receive a business management simulator developed by Praxis MMT, a tool valued at more than €3,000, to run their own virtual company.

The students work in teams as directors of an automotive business, selling different vehicle models and drawing up plans for their firm. They must make decisions on marketing, sales, operations, production, corporate social responsibility and finance.

Those choices shape how their company performs in a virtual market against rival teams from across Spain. The winning teams will share more than €10,000 in prizes for students and teachers, as well as certificates.

Last year, 127 students from four Balearic schools took part. They competed with 11,187 young people from 406 schools across Spain.
